Flourishing Through Worship
At St. Paul's, collective worship is a central part of school life and plays an important role in helping pupils and adults experience "Life in all its Fullness" (John 10:10).
Collective worship provides a daily opportunity to pause, reflect, celebrate and connect. It creates space for our school community to come together, explore Christian teachings and consider how they can be lived out in everyday life.
Through worship, pupils are encouraged to reflect on life's big questions, develop their understanding of themselves and others, and explore what it means to live with courage, compassion, hope and forgiveness. Worship supports our spirituality curriculum by creating opportunities for pupils to look through Windows, reflect through Mirrors and step through Doors.
Each act of worship includes opportunities for reflection and response. Through stories, music, prayer, silence and discussion, pupils are encouraged to consider both the joys and challenges of life. Worship provides opportunities for our children to experience Wow Moments of awe and wonder, Ow Moments of challenge and reflection, and Now Moments of stillness, prayer and contemplation.
Collective worship may take place as a whole school, in family groups or through special services held in church. Worship is rooted in the Christian faith whilst remaining inclusive, invitational and accessible to all members of our school community.
Children are actively involved in leading worship throughout the year. Pupils are encouraged to plan, lead and contribute to worship, sharing messages and themes that are meaningful to them. These opportunities help develop confidence, leadership, responsibility and spiritual understanding.
"Worship helps me think about how I treat other people."
"I like having time to stop and reflect."
"Leading worship helped me grow in confidence."
Our worship is enriched through our strong partnership with St. Peter's Church, Hextable, and St. Paul's Church, Swanley Village. Rev. Johnny Douglas and members of the ministry team regularly lead worship and support pupils in exploring faith, spirituality and Christian values.
Through collective worship, we aim to inspire every member of our community to reflect deeply, grow spiritually and flourish together.
